Protocol Stage 1 — INTENT
Agree, in one sentence the team confirms, what this team exists to make possible.
- Time to allow
- About 25 minutes
Before you start
- The Collective Drift Map is approved.
What this stage decides
Intent is the sentence every later stage is measured against. If the team cannot say what it exists to make possible, support and coordination have nothing to serve.
Run the stage
- 1
Open the Protocol and select Stage 1.
From the Team Alignment, open the Protocol; the stage rail sits across the top.
- 2
Read the drafted intent aloud.
The draft is synthesised from the approved Collective Drift Map.
- 3
Invite the team to change any word that is not theirs.
Edit in place; there is no limit on redrafting.
- 4
Use Draft from our evidence if the team wants a fresh starting point.
Result: A new draft replaces the working text; earlier edits are not kept.
- 5
Confirm the intent when the team agrees it reads true.
Result: Stage 1 shows as agreed and Stage 2 opens.

What good looks like
- One sentence, not a list.
- It names what becomes possible for people outside the team, not only inside it.
Questions
- Can we change the intent later?
- Yes. Reopen Stage 1 and edit; later stages keep their content, and drafted wording can be regenerated against the new intent.
